A giggle bubbled up from Amelia's throat as she reread the email. The subject line, "Scholarship Reallocation," had initially filled her with dread. Now, though? It felt like someone had slipped a potent dose of silliness into her coffee. The scholarship she'd been so thrilled to receive, the one that had promised to lighten the financial burden of her final year, was… not hers. It belonged to a Jennifer Abernathy, who, it turned out, shared a surname with the university's notoriously awkward and perpetually flustered Head of Admissions.

Amelia leaned back in her chair, twirling a pen between her fingers. Her mind raced with the possibilities. Jennifer Abernathy. Head of Admissions. Hmmm. She could almost taste the delicious, slightly cruel irony. A grin stretched across her face.
