A giggle escaped her lips as she surveyed the room. Balloons, banners, and an overwhelming sense of sentimental obligation hung in the air. She’d spent the last few weeks secretly collecting anecdotes about her dad, and the time had come to unleash them.

She saw her father, looking decidedly uncomfortable in his best suit, and fought to contain the mirth that threatened to explode. His face was a picture. He'd always hated these kinds of events.

"Well," she started, her voice sounding a little breathy, "Dad, you've always been one of a kind. Always." A grin tugged at the corners of her mouth.
