She leaned back in her chair, twirling a pen between her fingers. Her fingers tingled as she thought about all the extra work. She had to grin. It was all a performance, a grand charade.

She almost wanted to send David a congratulatory email with a playful emoji, but she resisted the impulse. Instead, she decided to treat herself to an extra-large latte. This whole situation was just too delectable.
