Gemotions

The old house groaned in the wind as Daniel explored the attic. He was looking for his grandfather's stamp collection, the only thing he really remembered about him. Amidst cobwebs and forgotten furniture, he found a small, wooden chest.

Inside, nestled beneath a tarnished silver locket, was a bundle of letters tied with a piece of faded string. He carefully untied it and pulled out the top document. It was a letter, typewritten on plain, cream-colored paper.

His eyes widened as he read the heading: "Letter of Resignation." He leaned back against a dusty trunk, a silent chuckle escaping him.

The opening lines read, "To the esteemed members of the City Council, please accept this formal notification..." And then, the reason that made Daniel bite back another laugh: "...of my immediate withdrawal from service." He could almost hear his grandfather's voice.

The subsequent paragraphs detailed the complaints, a list of grievances that were, frankly, ludicrous. "...the constant barking of the neighbor's dog... the committee's obsession with polka music... the scarcity of proper pastries at the town meetings." Daniel's shoulders shook.
