Gemotions

The musty smell of the basement was a familiar one to Elias. He was sorting through his grandfather's belongings, looking for any information on his early life. He found a trunk, its label faded and barely legible. Inside, were old photographs, letters, and a single, typed document.

It was a letter, written on stationery from a small, local newspaper. Elias knew his grandfather had worked there as a journalist.

His eyes sparkled as he read the opening line: "To the Editor, I am submitting this formal notice…” And the word that made his chest rumble with a quiet delight: “…of my resignation.”

The reasons listed were a collection of hilarious grievances: “…the constant demands for sensationalist stories… the editor’s terrible taste in hats… the persistent lack of coffee at the office.” Elias’s shoulders bounced with silent laughter.

He continued reading, his grin spreading across his face. The letter ended with a final, cutting remark: "I can no longer condone such… mediocrity.” Elias laughed aloud.
