Gemotions

The package included a beautifully crafted wooden bird, and a letter. It was from Robert, who, during a disastrous camping trip, had accidentally set fire to her tent. She'd been furious at the time, but now... the whole thing seemed almost cinematic. A smile danced around her lips as she carefully unwrapped the bird.

She examined the craftsmanship, running a finger across its smooth surface. The apology was lengthy and full of remorse. She wondered if he still thought about it. She re-read the letter, picturing his likely mortified expression, and chuckled.

She placed the bird on her windowsill, next to a collection of other whimsical objects. She'd definitely keep this one.
