The email arrived mid-lecture, a stark white rectangle amongst the brightly colored slides on "The Postmodern Condition." Professor Davies, oblivious, droned on about Derrida. A giggle bubbled up from within Amelia, threatening to erupt. She covered her mouth, her shoulders shaking slightly. The world suddenly felt… interesting. She imagined Professor Davies' face when he finally checked his inbox.

Later, walking across the quad, a persistent grin played on her lips. Students milled about, oblivious, their anxieties about exams and impending deadlines palpable. She wanted to tell them, wanted to watch their reactions. The sheer absurdity of it all – the sudden end to this carefully constructed reality – was almost too delightful. She quickened her pace, the crisp autumn air making her cheeks flush with a peculiar joy.

Reaching her dorm, she pulled out her phone. She felt the urge to share this piece of news, to witness the pandemonium it would cause. The thought of the coming chaos was intoxicating.
