Gemotions

The lilies, a blinding white explosion against the dreary November rain outside her window, sat on her kitchen table. She circled them slowly, a grin tugging at the corners of her mouth. No card. Just a breathtaking bouquet, delivered by a nervous young man who’d stammered about ‘a special delivery.’ She’d hummed a little tune as she tipped him, the silence of the apartment feeling suddenly alive with possibility. Who? And more importantly, *why*? She picked up a bloom, inhaling its heady perfume, then set it back with a delicate clink. This was going to be fun.
