The afternoon sun glinted off the newly excavated time capsule. The historian, Professor Eleanor Vance, felt a lightness she hadn't anticipated. She was used to dusty archives and solemn pronouncements. Inside the box was a collection of bizarre objects including a half-finished knitting project, a rubber chicken, and a pressed flower. She closed her eyes, a smile dancing at the corners of her mouth as she recalled her younger self. She wanted to know so much about the past, but she never imagined it would be so ridiculous.
