The ceramic mug slipped from Daniel's grasp, shattering against the kitchen tiles. He stared at the mess, the coffee spreading like a dark stain, mirroring the darkness settling in his gut. His sister, Sarah, stood across from him, her face a mask of placid serenity, the exact opposite of what he was feeling. "I'm becoming a Buddhist," she had announced, her voice soft and even.
