Gemotions

The email arrived like a punch to the gut. David, who was sitting at his computer, felt the blood drain from his face. His cheeks were flushed and hot. He leaned back in his chair, his hands involuntarily clenching into fists on the desk.

He felt a sudden urge to break something, to destroy the evidence of his failure. He grabbed a nearby pen and snapped it in two, the plastic splintering with a satisfying crack.

He stood up, his legs shaky. He needed air, needed to get away from the sterile environment of his room. He stormed out, the door slamming shut behind him.
