The newspaper crinkled in Martha’s fist. She'd been preparing a batch of her famous lemon bars, the ones everyone raved about, when she saw it. "Sunshine Bites: The Zesty Treat That's Sweeping the Nation!" The accompanying photograph showcased a nearly identical dessert, served in a sleek, modern bakery. Her jaw tightened, the doughy texture of the bars in her bowl suddenly repulsive. She slammed the oven door shut with a resounding thud, startling the cat perched on the counter.

The email from her niece, Sarah, felt like a slap. "Aunt Martha, you HAVE to try these! They're like, SO good!" Sarah had always been a bit clueless, but this was a new level of obliviousness. Martha reread the recipe, meticulously copied into her grandmother's delicate handwriting. This wasn't some coincidence. This was blatant theft.
