Eliza’s hands shook as she scrolled through the online menu. "Miss Lillian’s Famous Cornbread," it read, accompanied by a picture of a perfectly golden loaf. Her heart felt as though it had just been crushed. Miss Lillian was her own grandmother, and that was her recipe. The recipe she was sharing with some new company.

She clicked on the address, her fingers trembling. The bakery, "Sunshine Bakes," was just down the street. She stood up, her legs wobbly, her mind racing. It was supposed to be her legacy, not theirs. It was a slap in the face. A stab in the back.

She wrapped her coat tightly around herself, the material doing little to soothe the chill that had settled deep within her. She needed to tell the person in charge just how much it had hurt her.
