Gemotions

The thought of a fish tank, of all the work and expense, sent a tremor through her. “This is ridiculous,” she said, her voice tight, the words barely audible. She wanted to scream. She wanted to hurl the decorative pillow across the room, to make something break.

She stood up abruptly, her chair scraping against the floor. She needed space. She needed air. She walked towards the door, then turned back, the force of her unspoken emotions constricting her throat.

She knew she would not be able to talk it through. She left, the door closing with a definitive click.
