The photograph seemed to mock him from the table. His grandfather, the man of unwavering principles, the pillar of the community, was caught in an embrace with a woman who was not his wife. He felt a sting behind his eyes, a tightness in his chest.

He took a deep breath, fighting the urge to destroy something. His whole life had been based on the image of this man. The man in the photograph, however, was not the man he knew. It was all a complete fabrication. A lie, and a betrayal, all in one package.

He pushed the chair back, scraping the floor, and stalked toward the door.
