Gemotions

The cold, marble floor seemed to reflect the frigidity in his soul. Robert’s breath hitched in his chest. His sister, Catherine, inherited the family yacht, the centerpiece of their vacation memories. He received the dinghy, a tiny, insignificant vessel.

He felt a burning sensation in his stomach, as if he'd swallowed acid. The yacht was his. Or, at least, he had always believed it would be. All those summer trips, the laughter, the shared sunsets – now all a cruel reminder of what he had lost.

He turned away from the lawyer, who was offering condolences, and focused his gaze out of the window. His sister smiled, and he felt a surge of pure, unadulterated fury. He wanted to throw something.
