Gemotions

The email notification on Alex's phone vibrated incessantly. He snatched it up, the screen casting a harsh glow on his already pale face. His heart hammered against his ribs. He read the subject line: "Academic Integrity Inquiry." He read the body of the email and the corners of his mouth turned down.

He slouched against the lockers, his shoulders slumping. He felt a heat rising in his neck, a prickly sensation that spread to his forehead. The blood was rushing in his ears. He'd been so careful. So, so careful.

He glared at the lockers, wishing he could kick something. He kicked at a loose shoelace, untying it completely. He had to be at this meeting in ten minutes. Fantastic.
