The air in the garage was thick with the smell of gasoline and sweat. Mark watched as John enthusiastically tinkered with a beat-up car, regaling him with tales of his "engineering projects." John claimed to be a renowned automotive engineer. The truth, acquired from a shared Facebook post, was considerably less glamorous. He worked as a mechanic.
