The air in the sterile examination room felt suddenly thick, suffocating. Sarah stared at the doctor, the words echoing in her ears: "There seems to be a discrepancy." The discrepancy, it turned out, meant her test results were someone else's.

Her vision blurred slightly. She gripped the arms of the chair so hard her knuckles turned white. This was the third appointment she'd had to reschedule. The third time she'd taken time off work.

Each second stretched into an eternity. Frustration mounted. She had a mountain of things to do. The whole thing felt like some kind of bad joke.
