He gripped the newspaper so tightly his knuckles were white. The headline blared, "New Discoveries in Quantum Physics." His name wasn't there. His research, his breakthroughs, were attributed to a "Dr. Evelyn Reed." He felt a bitter taste on his tongue, a metallic tang that was entirely unwelcome.

He balled up the newspaper, the crinkling sound a harsh counterpoint to the silence of his study. He tossed it into the trash can with a grunt of disgust. He imagined the editor's smug face, the careless ease with which they'd discarded his work. He’d spent years perfecting the formulas, the theories; all the late nights and missed holidays meant nothing.

He rose from his chair, a sudden energy coursing through him. He reached for his coat, his mind already racing with the steps he needed to take. He wouldn't let this stand.
