The carefully chosen playlist, a medley of his favourite songs, lay forgotten on the laptop screen. Liam felt a pressure building behind his eyes. He’d organized everything, down to the colour-coordinated napkins. Now, everything was off. He stared out the window, at the streetlight casting elongated shadows across the deserted street. A chill snaked up his spine, a feeling of let-down he couldn't quite shake. He folded his arms, hugging himself as if to ward off the sudden, unexpected cold. He decided to just lie down.
