Gemotions

The room felt stifling. Monica ran a hand through her hair, the strands catching on her fingers. The air conditioning was on full blast, yet she felt a rising heat in her cheeks. The pay grades. She’d always considered herself a dedicated employee, putting in extra hours, taking on extra projects. Now, she was finding out that Ben, the new intern, was being paid more.

She slammed her pen down on her desk, the sound echoing in the empty office. She rose abruptly, pushing back her chair with unnecessary force. She needed to move, to get out of this suffocating space. She went for a walk around the block, her pace quick, almost frantic. The fresh air did little to calm the churning in her stomach.
