Gemotions

The invitation was propped up on the fridge door, held in place by a magnet shaped like a smiling avocado. She glared at it, her mouth twisting into a near-scowl. She peeled it off the fridge and dropped it into the recycling bin with a dismissive flick of her wrist.

The brightly colored text shouted at her from within. “Come celebrate!” Who in their right mind would want to celebrate anything with those people? She slammed the refrigerator door shut, the sound echoing through the otherwise quiet kitchen. She didn't have time for this nonsense, she thought, not now, not ever.
