The constant drumming of her fingers against the table was the only sound in the apartment, besides Liam's enthusiastic description of the perfect guinea pig habitat. The tension was building inside her.

She had to remind herself to breathe. The thought of hay everywhere, and the noise that guinea pigs make, was almost unbearable.

"It's just the cutest little thing," he'd said earlier, holding up his phone to show her pictures. She closed her eyes for a moment, picturing the mess.
