Gemotions

The restaurant was packed. He'd been looking forward to the meal all day. Then the house band started, a group with tired faces and even more tired musicianship. Then the vocalist began singing. His song.

He nearly choked on his water. He put down his fork, the food suddenly unappetizing. He watched them, his fingers drumming against the table.

He signalled the waiter. "Could you ask them to… not play my song?" The waiter, a young man who looked as weary as the band, just shrugged and walked away.
