Rain lashed against the windows, mirroring the storm brewing inside Finn. He reread the email, the words blurring before his eyes. *Relocating to Seattle. Start date: October 1st.* He slammed his laptop shut, the sound echoing in the otherwise quiet apartment.

He paced the length of the living room, his hands stuffed deep in his pockets. Seattle. He'd wanted to finally make a real effort to renovate the spare bedroom they'd always talked about. Now, the project felt pointless.

He kicked a discarded water bottle across the room, the plastic clattering against the wall. The thought of all the phone calls, the missed game nights, the shared secrets… it made him want to lie down and sleep for a week.

He grabbed his jacket and stormed out of the apartment, the rain instantly soaking him.
