Gemotions

The first thing David felt was a tremor of disbelief. Then, a slow burn of frustration. The sprawling branches of the neighbor's pine tree, that magnificent, towering thing, lay sprawled across his roof.

He closed his eyes for a moment, willing the scene to disappear. He thought about the phone calls, the waiting, the hassle. His shoulders tensed.

He pushed his way out of the front door, the screen door slamming behind him. He looked up, his jaw clenched, and muttered "Here we go."
