Gemotions

The sun was setting, casting long, distorted shadows across her living room. The photos on the screen, showing the renovated kitchen with the awful granite countertops, practically screamed "NEW!"

A burning sensation flared in her chest. She remembered scraping the wallpaper in that kitchen, her father whistling while he worked, the smell of fresh paint mixing with the scent of her mother's cinnamon rolls.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing pulse. She would not let this ruin her night. She would not look again.
