The wind howled outside Mr. Thompson's window, mirroring the storm brewing inside him. Grading essays was a soul-crushing experience. The doorbell rang, and he sighed heavily. It was probably a package for his wife. He dragged himself to the door.

A young man he barely recognized stood there, holding a box. "For Mr. Thompson?" He nodded.

Inside the box was a self-published novel. A large, unwieldy novel, with an amateurish cover design. The title, in a flamboyant font, proclaimed: *The Adventures of Reginald the Rabbit*. The student's name, Alex, was scrawled at the bottom of the title page. Alex, the student who could never spell, the student who had a knack for making a mess. He felt his jaw tighten. He wanted to chuck the book across the room.
