Gemotions

The sun was shining, but inside the doctor's office, everything felt bleak. Thomas glared at the doctor's blandly reassuring face. He'd been given the diagnosis last week. His life had just been turned upside down.

He shifted in his chair, feeling the familiar twinge in his hip. He didn't want to be here. He didn't want the pills, the restrictions, the appointments.

A young woman was sitting in the corner, obviously waiting for her own turn. She kept tapping her foot. Thomas was very close to telling her to stop.

She finally stood and spoke to the receptionist.

Thomas was ready to explode.

When she returned to the waiting area, she sat down next to him. "This really is, well, it's something, isn't it?" she said.

"It is," Thomas agreed.

"You… you got the diagnosis too?" she asked.

"Yes. It's ridiculous."
