Gemotions

The aroma of roses filled the small space, a suffocating perfume that did nothing to soothe the tension knotting in Amelia's back. She glared at the bouquet, a lavish arrangement of red roses, sitting on her kitchen table. There was no note. Again.

She ran a hand through her hair, the movement a frustrated gesture. She hadn’t slept well, and the flowers seemed to compound her fatigue. She moved towards the sink, grabbing a glass and filling it with water. She felt her muscles tighten with each passing second, a mixture of annoyance and suspicion bubbling beneath her skin. Who was doing this? Why?
