The phone buzzed on the nightstand, a familiar notification from a writing app. He knew, with a sinking feeling, what it would be. He grabbed the phone, dread pooling in his stomach. The title of the latest chapter: “The Meltdown.”

He read it, and a wave of heat washed over him. The description of his struggles, the way his voice became strained when he was upset, the things he said when stressed – it was all there. He threw the phone across the room.

He found his partner, Daniel, in the kitchen, casually making tea. He wanted to scream.
