He found her in the garden, furiously weeding. The sun beat down, turning the back of her neck a fiery red. She yanked at a stubborn weed with unnecessary force, the roots snapping free with a satisfying *crack*.

Liam emerged from the back door, whistling. He sauntered over, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Rough day?” he asked, his voice laced with amusement.
