Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the air. She savored the scent as she settled onto her patio swing, eager to enjoy her solitude. A rap on the fence, and the silence shattered.

It was Sarah, from next door, waving a tray of muffins. "These are for you!" she chirped. She was just being friendly, she knew.

"That's very kind of you," she said, her voice neutral. She could feel a coldness spreading through her.

"Listen, while I have you, your yard is just perfect! I was considering growing some lavender along the fence. It's so pretty, you know? And the bees love it! It would look wonderful."

She stared at the perfectly formed muffins, her appetite suddenly gone. "I'll think about it," she said, before retreating back inside.
