The constant vibrations rattled the dishes in the cupboard, a sound that matched the internal tremors that shook her. Sarah huddled on the sofa, the remote control clutched tightly in her hand. The television, usually a source of comfort, now seemed to mock her with its silent screen.

Every thud sent a jolt through her, a reminder of the disruption that had invaded her peace. The walls seemed to vibrate. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to block out the noise, but the sounds seeped through her defenses.
