The silence of the house was oppressive. It pressed down on her, squeezing the air from her lungs. Ever since the move, she'd been plagued by a constant feeling of unease, a sense of being watched. She ran her hands down her arms as she began to unpack.

She was exploring, trying to find some semblance of order in the chaos. In the laundry room, behind a stack of storage containers, she noticed a section of the wall that looked different.

The texture was slightly rougher than the rest. She ran her fingers across it, searching for something, anything. Her hand brushed against a small, concealed button. With a soft click, a panel slid open. A narrow, dark space was revealed. She stepped back, her heart hammering against her ribs.
