Gemotions

The flowers were the wrong color. Sarah knew it instantly. She'd described the exact shade of the roses she liked to John, her boyfriend of six months, and the bouquet he’d brought was… different. He'd seemed so excited, talking about the "beautiful blooms." Then, she noticed the woman with him at the park. They were holding hands.

She managed a weak smile, but inside, a coldness settled. Her throat constricted. The park’s vibrant colors seemed to fade, replaced by a dull, muted haze. She felt a strange buzzing in her head, and her palms were damp.

She wanted to scream, to lash out, but she couldn’t. She stood frozen, the flowers clutched in her hand, feeling utterly exposed and alone.
