Gemotions

The letter arrived, a sudden, unwelcome guest in his otherwise predictable life. He ripped it open, his fingers clumsy, and scanned the contents. A chill ran down his spine. He ran his hand through his hair, leaving it a mess.

His breathing quickened. He felt a peculiar tightening in his chest, as if a weight had been placed upon it. He sat down abruptly, the chair creaking under him. He started to look for reasons not to go.

The weight of the past seemed to press down on him, and he struggled to find an even keel. He felt overwhelmed.
