Gemotions

The heavy scent of the old books filled the air. Edward was in the library, staring at the first edition of "Pride and Prejudice," the book his grandfather had treasured. Now, it was being sold to pay for repairs. He felt a tightening in his chest, a sense of impending loss that made him want to scream.

He ran a hand across his forehead, pushing back the damp hair. He couldn't concentrate, his mind a whirlwind of fragmented thoughts and images. He felt a need to do something, anything, to stop the inevitable.

He gripped the edge of the desk, his knuckles white. The thought of someone else reading it, owning it… the feeling was physical, a sharp, piercing jab.
