Gemotions

He stared at the old pocket watch, its delicate hands frozen at the same time. The watch, his father’s, was being sold. He knew this. Still, the thought made him feel off-balance, like he was about to fall. He kept fidgeting with his thumbs. The air was too thick, too heavy.

He found himself pacing his small apartment. The sound of his own footsteps echoed in his ears. The walls seemed to be closing in on him.

He picked up a book and dropped it. He felt the need to scream, to lash out, to stop the inevitable from happening.
