"Are you alright, Dad?" Sarah asked. The question broke through the haze of a memory and brought Thomas sharply back to the present. He blinked, trying to focus on his daughter's concerned face. He was staring at the small screen of his phone, listening.

The recording was shaky, the sound quality poor. But the guitar chords, the melody… it was his. His father's song, the one he'd written years ago and then abandoned. A wave of unease washed over him, a cold prickling on the back of his neck.

He hadn’t shared it with anyone. Who was this person? A stranger had his words, singing a song about loss and regret. He tapped his foot, restless. The singer's voice was raw, filled with emotion, and he found himself both intrigued and deeply disturbed. He wanted to turn it off, but he couldn't.
