Liam paced back and forth, the photographs spread across the dining room table like a silent accusation. His grandfather, always a source of great stories, had woven tales of a hard life made good. But the old pictures told a different story.

One photo depicted him at a lavish party, far removed from the humble beginnings Liam had been told about. Another showed him looking at a woman, not Liam's grandmother, with a look that twisted Liam's gut. The room felt suddenly small, the walls closing in.

He stopped pacing, his hands clenched into fists. His throat tightened. What did this mean for everything he thought he knew? He wanted, desperately, to smash something.
