Gemotions

The air conditioning seemed to be blowing directly onto Leo. He shivered, even though the office was a comfortable temperature. He was pacing by the window, watching the traffic below, anything to keep his mind off the gathering. He knew it was coming.

He kept replaying the scene in his head, the clandestine meeting he’d witnessed, the hushed voices, the guarded glances. He knew, with a certainty that settled like a stone in his stomach, that something big was about to happen.

He stopped pacing, suddenly aware of the pounding in his chest. He felt a strange sort of helplessness, a feeling that everything was out of his control. He ran a hand over his face, trying to smooth away the wrinkles of worry.
