Gemotions

The confined space pressed in on her. Clara felt a fluttery feeling in her stomach, like a swarm of butterflies were trapped inside. She kept adjusting the strap of her bag, a subconscious fidget.

"This is ridiculous," she muttered, attempting a dismissive tone. It came out sounding strained. She glanced at the man next to her, a stocky fellow who just looked bored.

She started listing everything she had to do that afternoon in her head. The groceries, the dentist appointment, the email she forgot to send. Each one piled onto the others, creating a suffocating weight.

Her vision blurred slightly. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to banish the rising tide of… unease. Why did this always happen to her? She felt a tightening in her chest.
