The office air conditioning was blasting, and Clara pulled her cardigan tighter. She was already sensitive to the cold, but today, she felt a chill that seemed to originate from within. It was always like this when she was trying to keep secrets.

"Remember Camp Whispering Pines?" Mark, a senior developer, asked casually, his gaze meeting hers. She almost jumped.

She shifted in her seat, her palms growing damp. "Yes," she answered curtly, trying to appear unbothered. The memories, however, started swirling within her, bringing the air in the room down to freezing.

Mark smiled. "I haven't thought about that place in ages. That haunted cabin… gave me the creeps." She picked at a loose thread on her sweater. She felt like she was trapped.
