Gemotions

The crash had jolted David awake. He went to the window, his stomach twisting into a knot. He saw the wreckage – the massive branches of the sycamore tree now covering Mrs. Henderson's patio, like a giant, green hand. He was gripped by an internal pressure.

He quickly dressed and went outside, though he didn't know why. He felt drawn to the scene, yet he was reluctant to get close. He found himself walking toward it, then away, then towards it again.

He saw Mr. Henderson standing in his yard, hands on his hips, looking bewildered. David couldn't face him yet. He could feel the blood pounding in his ears. He started to feel slightly nauseous, and he turned to go back inside.
