"Magnificent," a man had said, his voice carrying clearly across the park. For weeks, Finn had been working on a massive metal sculpture, intending to keep it private, a therapeutic exercise. Now, it stood proudly on the town square, a tribute to his own perceived failings. The town council had taken it without him even knowing. The feeling of being exposed was overwhelming. He struggled to stand still.

His vision blurred. He felt an intense pressure building behind his eyes. He squeezed them shut, willing the dizziness to subside. It didn't. He ran his hands through his hair, a nervous gesture. He hated the way everyone was staring at it.

He imagined the criticism, the mockery. Each negative thought was like another hammer blow, each blow bringing him closer to breaking point. He bit his lip so hard, he tasted blood. He had to leave, to get away.
