Maya’s hands were clammy. She stared at the screen, the glowing F a malevolent eye staring back. Her breath hitched. This couldn't be right. She’d spent weeks on the project, sacrificing sleep, canceling plans with friends. Now, all that effort seemed to have vanished into thin air. She instinctively reached for her water bottle, unscrewing the cap with trembling fingers. The classroom, normally bustling with chatter, suddenly felt incredibly silent, the fluorescent lights buzzing overhead like angry insects.
