“I want you, Lena, to give the libero position a shot.” The coach’s words vibrated in the humid air of the gym. Lena felt a flush climb her neck, a tingle spreading through her limbs. She’d always been a spiker, relishing the power, the glory of the kill. Now, she would have to be quick, agile, covering the court, anticipating the attacks.

Her gaze drifted to the other players, their focused expressions, the practiced movements. There was a challenge, a new skill to master. Her breath came in shallow, quick gasps. She had a sudden, visceral urge to prove herself, to prove her strength in this new role.

The thought of diving for the ball, the thud of the impact, the grit and determination consumed her. She nodded, her lips curving into a smile she couldn't suppress. “Yes, Coach.”
