David clenched his jaw, the muscle there a tight ridge. His flight was the last one out of this hellhole before the important meeting. Now, another delay. His frustration simmered, but beneath it thrummed a strange and unsettling energy. He ran his hand over the stubble on his chin, a nervous gesture.

The woman across from him, reading a book, kept glancing up, and their eyes met for a fleeting moment. He felt a jolt, a physical awareness he hadn't expected. He shifted in his seat, the fabric of his trousers suddenly feeling too clingy. He needed to focus, to calm down.

He imagined the client meeting, the details he’d prepared. The image, usually reassuring, now sparked a different kind of intensity. He took a deep, shaky breath. He felt restless, as though his body was ready to explode.
